Happy Birthday to my son Adam!

This is a cake that I made for my son Adam's 17th birthday.  He loves playing his electric guitar so I did a cake in the shape of an amplifier.  He really likes the band Coheed and Cambria so I painted the keywork symbol on the back of the "amp".  He chose yellow cake with chocolate pudding filling.

Not just a Race Car Cake...

I made this cake last week for the birthday of a very special friend of ours.  He owns a 1974 Nova that he drag races.  The car on top of the cake was made out of gumpaste and is a replica of his car. He loved the cake and was surprised!  He is saving the car. lol  I used my special chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting for the filling. YUM!

Boys Scout Stove Cake

I did this cake a few weeks ago for the birthday of a Boy Scout Leader/Dad.  It is a replica of an alcohol stove that he makes to use for outdoor cooking when camping.  I used gumpaste for the Boy Scout symbol and painted the Eagle and Shield with edible paint.

It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown

I was inspired to make this after seeing an episode of Ace of Cake.  My daughter and her friend made all of the characters.  We are taking it to the youth group church function tonight.

Stacked Pillow Cake

I made this cake for my daughters 15th birthday.  She saw this idea on a cake show and wanted this for her birthday.  This was my first attempt at carving cake.  I was pretty happy with the way it turned out.

Mad Science Cake

This was a birthday cake for a friend of a friend's little boy.  He was having a science themed party so I did a mad science cake.  This was a chocolate cake covered in chocolate fudge.  So yummy!

Yo Gabba Gabba

This was for a little boy's first birthday.  He is allergic to red and yellow dye so had to stick with blue.  The family wanted to be covered in butter cream, so only the characters were made from fondant.

I made this cake for a friends nephew.  He loves fishing , so we decided a fishing cake it would be.  This cake was chocolate with the three musketeer filling.

Cheer Cup Cakes

Last year I did a cheer cake and this year she wanted Cheer Cupcakes!

My first wedding cake

This was the first wedding cake I've made.  This was for a co-worker of my brothers.  She gave me a picture of a cake out of a magazine and made a few changes to it to make it personal.  I was a nervous wreck delivering this cake!

Nascar Groom's Cake

This was a grooms cake.  The groom loves Jeff Gordon and his mother had me make this car cake as a surprise for him.

Small Floral Cake

This cake was a sample cake I did for a co-worker of my brothers.  She liked it so much she had me do her wedding cake.

Pink Cheetah Cake

This was for my daughters 10th birthday.  She picked pink and the cheetah print for the trim.  She also picked the topper and ribbons.  It turned out very well.

Graduation Cake

I did this cake for a graduation party.  Danny played guitar and Mercedes loves her cats! I used rice krispie treats for the guitar and the cat and covered them in fondant.

Small Floral Cake

I made this cake as a graduation gift for my son's friend.  I love using fresh flowers on cakes.

Tinker Bell

I did this cake for my daughters 14th birthday.  She loves Tinker Bell and saw this cake in a Wilton book and wanted it for her birthday.  We had a lot of fun making this one together.

Beer Mug

This was for my youngest brothers birthday.  I used the butter pecan cake and the butter pecan filling for this one.  Unfortunately we had already taken of the handle when we took the picture.

Halloween Mini cakes

I did these mini cakes for my younger daughters Girl Scout troop.

Little Girl Purse and Make Up Cake

I did this cake for a little girl's birthday.  She loved purses and make up so that is what we gave her.  My daughter helped make the make up.  We used fondant for everything.  I monogrammed her initial on the front of the purse and used her two favorite colors.

Cigar Box Cake

I made this cigar box cake for a good friends birthday.  I painted the fondant to look like wood grain and made the cigars out of modeling chocolate.  I printed the label of one of his favorite cigar brands and put it on the inside of the lid. It was a huge hit!

Butter Pecan Cake

I made this cake when my in laws were in town.  I had an idea one day to use butter pecan cake and use butter cream frosting with chopped candied pecans for the filling.  It was delicious!

Ballroom Dancer Cake

I did this cake for a good friend for his mom who is a ballroom dancer.

Softball Cake

I made this cake for a friend of my daughters.  She is an avid softball player.  I wrote her name on the batting helmet and her number on the jersey.  The softball on top was covered in butter cream since she did not like fondant.

Cheer Cake

This was a cake I made for the daughter of the receptionist at church.  She loves cheer leading.  So I did a cheer cake with the colors of her cheer team.  I especially like the pom-poms on the top of the cake.

Candy Bar filled Chocolate Cake

This was a cake that I made just to make.  I tried a recipe for a filling that is like the filling in  a three musketeer cake.  It was chocolate cake with chocolate fondant and the candy bar filling.  My daughter made the flowers for the top.

Purse Cake

This was a carrot cake that I made for my long time close friend for her birthday.  I was the first time I used modeling chocolate.

3rd Birthday Cake

So this was the first fondant cake I did for a family event.  The weekend of my grandparents 60th anniversary was also my nephews 3rd birthday.  So of course we had to make a cake!

60th Anniversary Cake

This was my first official cake that was for more than just family. My grandparents celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in July 2009.  My mom planned the party and asked if I would do the cake.  I had never worked with fondant before and had never made a cake this large.  It was a huge success!  Everyone at the party kept telling me how good the cake looked and how good the cake tasted - even the fondant!  I learned to make marshmallow fondant and I use it on all my fondant cakes.  So this is where it all began...

Starting my Blog

After realizing that I have made more than 20 cakes in the last 16 months, I have finally decided that I am going to start a blog for my cakes!  I really love making these cakes and would love someday to have my own shop. But until then I'll just keep doing what I am doing and let God lead the way!
